Victoria J. Farrell
Attorney at Law
Victoria J. Farrell is an Attorney who has practiced in the Estate Planning area for over twenty years in Fayetteville, Georgia and is a 2004 Graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Florida in Jacksonsville, Florida and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Vicki is also a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the State of Florida since 1988 and finds that her accounting background is an asset in her estate planning practice.
At her law firm of Palmer Farrell Fayette Law Group, Vicki advises clients and assists them in designing an Estate Plan by asking what their goals are and what type of legacy they want to leave behind, then drafts the type of plan to meet their specific goals. Vicki designs estate plans that range from simple Wills to complex plans involving Grantor and Non-Grantor Trusts, Asset Protection Trusts and Tax Planning Trusts. She also practices in the area of Probate Administration and Trust Administration by assisting clients through the difficult processes after a loved one has passed.
Vicki enjoys giving seminars on estate planning topics to local churches, civic groups, other attorneys and senior citizen groups. She and her husband, Randy, live on a 14-acre farm in Georgia and enjoy having dogs, horses, chickens, goats and even a bunny. They like to visit their lakehouse at Lake Martin, Alabama and hunt and camp on their hunting property in middle Georgia.
Topic:
“How the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act Impacts Estate Planning”
Vicki will discuss the “permanent” estate tax rules with a new $15 million federal exemption per person starting in 2026 and the retention of the portability provision allowing surviving spouses to claim their deceased spouse’s unused exemption.
Because the uncertainty of the sunset provision has been removed, she will discuss the shift from estate tax planning to income tax planning which maximizes income tax efficiencies by using trusts to ensure step-up in basis to fair market value upon death.
Long term planning that involves asset protection trusts and irrevocable trusts to preserve long-term care options has been brought to the forefront of estate planning.
Also, charitable planning through the use of Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) and Charitable Lead Trusts(CLTs) has been in the focus due to the cap on Charitable Giving limited to 60% of Adjusted Gross Income.
The key will be to build flexible estate plans for the future that take into account that “permanent” doesn’t always mean permanent.

Jack Calhoun
Jack Calhoun spent more than two decades in the wealth management industry. After joining his father at his RIA firm, Capital Directions, in 1993, Jack created a TAMP program for accounting firms in the late 1990s. That program ultimately grew the firm’s AUM from $80 million to more than $1.5 billion during the 2000s. Jack became managing partner and majority owner of the firm in 2005 before selling the company in 2014.
After leaving the wealth management industry, Jack found the post-career transition more disorienting than liberating. With no framework to guide his own next chapter, Jack came to see the need for a program to help successful professionals and business owners create a thriving third act for themselves beyond the conventional “life of endless leisure” model that has defined retirement the past century. This led him to found Encore Career Lab in 2023, a program dedicated to helping people create a third act for themselves full of purpose, connection and fulfillment.
A native of Atlanta, Jack and his wife Nancy now reside in Athens, Ga. They have two amazing adult children, Georgia (26) and Tripp (24).
Rethinking Retirement: Beyond the “Life of Endless Leisure”
The financial services industry has deep expertise at answering one half of the retirement equation: Do I have enough? This presentation takes on the other half of the equation that often gets glossed over: Who will I be, and what will I do, for the next 20, 30 or even 40 years after my primary career is over?
Jack Calhoun explores how the modern retirement model was created by the 1935 Social Security Act, when average life expectancy was 60, and why that outdated framework no longer works for today’s clients who have multi-decade life expectancies. He unpacks the arrival fallacy, career identity enmeshment, and the sobering data behind the "do-nothing retirement" model that shows soaring rates of depression, dementia and, sadly, suicide.
Jack then highlights the alternative – a thriving third act of life built around an encore career that is neither exhausting grind nor endless recess. Attendees will learn how to help clients convert crystallized intelligence into a "Wisdom Quotient," shift from guru mode to Sherpa mode, and create an inspiring future vision that pulls them forward into an exciting future.
You'll leave with compelling and important new topics to discuss with your clients, and a fresh source of value in an increasingly commoditized field.
